Welcome to the USAFA Parents' Club of Eastern Michigan

Picture

Welcome to our website!

The Eastern Michigan USAFA Parents Club is here to support you and your cadet throughout your journey at the Air Force Academy. No matter what phase of the journey you are on, prospective cadet, current cadet, or alumni, we are here to help provide information and support.

Michigan has two USAFA Parents Clubs -- Like several other states with large populations or geographic regions, Michigan has two USAFA Parents Clubs to serve you. The Eastern Club is based in the Detroit and the Western Club is based in Grand Rapids. We work well together and share information, so please contact whichever club is closest to you.

BOXING PARTY
We will be hosting the 2nd Annual “Boxing Party” for USAFA Michigan Families to create Michigan product care packages, sending your cadets some of their favorite goodies.  The party is scheduled at my house (50437 Telluride Circle, Canton, MI 48187) on Sunday, January 31st from 1-4 pm.  There are several ways for you to participate.

1. Attend the party in person, bring your items with you, and help assemble the boxes for our cadets.
2. Drop off your goodies at my house any time before the party and we will box them up for you.
3. Send a monetary donation ($25 or more) early enough for us to purchase items.  If you choose this option, please ensure delivery prior to January 25th so we have time to purchase some Michigan products.

BONUS:  For all current USAFA Parents' Club cadet families that participate, you will receive one entry into our drawing for an Unrestricted Round-Trip ticket on Southwest Airlines.  Travel must be completed by November 28, 2021.  We will draw the winning family near the conclusion of the “Boxing Party” and post the name of the winner shortly thereafter.  Good luck to you all!

I’ll need your RSVP and the product you will be bringing (or delivering) by Monday, January 25th.  Below is a list of Michigan items we have used in the past. Please REPLY to ALL so we know what you are planning on bringing and avoid getting duplicates.

What Should You Bring?  Each box is only 8”x8”x4” because I have to pack all 20 of them into 2 large suitcases, so make sure you bring a small item to place in each box.  Each family should bring enough to put into 20 boxes.  The item you bring can be something exclusive to Michigan or just something your cadet really likes (and others may like as well).

Please NO LIQUIDS.

Additionally, you can bring a note/card for your cadet and put it into their box if you wish.

Remember, email REPLY TO ALL to emusafapc@gmail.com
your intentions and the items you plan to provide.
I hope to see many of you on Sunday, January 31st.

 2020 NEW APPOINTEES PICNIC

Join the USAFA Parents' Club of Eastern Michigan on Saturday, May 30, for an informational picnic and social gathering (and, don't we all need that now!). Meet present Cadets (if they are still in Michigan), talk to present and past parents about their experiences, and enjoy a Michigan afternoon in the sun (we hope). Our picnic will be hosted by Club President Jim Putlock at his home in Canton. More details soon.

INCOMING CLASS OF 2025 APPOINTEES - Congratulations and welcome to the USAFA family. As you get ready to start your journey, here are a few things that you can do that will help us support you.
  1. Fill out and submit the USAFA PARENT PRIVACY RELEASE FORM. This form must be signed by both the appointee and parents and can be scanned and emailed to the USAFA Parent Liaison (her contact information is on the form). Once this form has been submitted, USAFA can officially release your contact information to us.
  2. Check our our Events/Dates page.  Our 2021 schedule is still being finalized, however, we will have a new appointee luncheon in the spring that you will want to attend. It's a great opportunity to meet other new appointees and to get your questions answered by  parents of current cadets. Also, check out the Important Dates for Parents document. This is a great summary of all the key dates at USAFA for the next year.
  3. If you use Facebook, consider joining a couple of groups. Our Eastern Michigan Parents Group has a Facebook group (see invite link at the left) and each class at the academy has a Facebook group. Search "USAFA Class of 2022 Parents Group" to locate the class of 2022 group.
  4. Lastly, contact us directly. Send us an email at emusafapc@gmail.com and introduce yourself. We will add you to our distribution list and answer any questions you may have via email or phone.
